A few days ago, all contact to the Samnium Space Station was lost and all attempts to locate the station and call it have failed. What the cause of this is, is currently unknown. The Galactic Council has yet to make an official statement regarding the communications breakdown with the Station.
Samnium, a planet in the outer rim territories is know to be the only source of Elerium-115, a radioactive material that is used for the new generation of fusion reactors that have a much higher energy output then current models. The planet is mostly water and the orbital station was sued as a hub for commerce and trade while the mining was done by automated platforms on the surface and under water.
There have been rumors of Pirate Activity near the station but these rumors have yet to be confirmed. Other rumors say that it where a unknown alien force. This current incident seems to mirror the legendary incident at the Acturus station 15 years ago that would lead to the first Kafer War.
"The parallels are there, without doubts. It is possible that the Kafers are back, just like we all predicted it would happen sooner or later." say Gen. Joachim Schroeder of the 1st Colonial Marine Division.
"The destruction of the station would be only the first step towards a full invasion of the whole sector. If its not them, then some other foreign powers that are interested in taking the planet for themselves, the Elerium-115 would make it worth it to blow up the station and go to war to some" he adds.
There were currently a estimated 50 to 100 persons on the station when the contact broke up among them the renowned Xenobilogist Doctor Thomas Issac from the Sagan Research Institute, who was there to study the local alien life. Doctor Issac is know for his recent studies at the Al Raqian Sandworm and was the mind and host of the recent educational net show hit "Life among the Stars".
The Galactic council has now launched a investigation in this matter that will hopefully result in some answers to the pressing concerns the families and friends of the station crew have. The USD has assured its assistance in this case and hopes that together the whole incident can be cleared up.

Brooding conflict on AL Raqis between the Federation and the Orions.
Splintered Rock, Al Raqis,
Yesterday, the peace and tranquility of the Landing pads was disrupted by the sounds of weapons fire when the Myrdion Order and troops of The Federation clashed together when the Federation refused to leave the planet after the Orions had demanded it. The origin of this conflict seems to be vague, but stems from the fact that the Federation plans to increase its presence in the Mu Draconis system and the Orions declared their "benevolent protector" status over Al Raqis. Rumors say that the Orions even managed to sing treaties with the local Government,which can only mean the various house and not the Imperium.
The Orions released a statement stating that they will not allow the Federation to land on the planet and will do security checks if anyone is part of the Federation. The United Systems Military forces in this sector have been set to full alert after yesterdays clash and several ships are on its way, with the "USM Vanguard" already in place. According to reports, the 3rd Fleet is on its way, which include the Prometheus as the flagship.
Right now, the USD adopted a stance of "armed neutrality" making sure that its forces have access to the landing pad as well as ensuring the protection of the USD citizens already on the planet.
For now, peace has returned to Al Raqis, the question is, how long this peace will last.

The last 3 months saw new record heights in the spice harvest, with House Tairis and the United Systems Directorate dominating the business. The Guild is pleased to report that spice production has increased to new highs over the past orbit. The early cycles of the orbital period were dominated by the spice harvesting efforts of the Khayal Alramady and Tri-V Corporation.
Several cycles into the orbis the Khayal Alramady activities started to decrease and this must be associated with the massive dust vortices and magnetic storms that were recorded over the Khayal Alramady settlement by Weather Control during this time. No further spice deposits were received after the storms subsided and few of the tribal members of Khayal Alramady have been seen since. Until further reports are received it is assmued that the city of Khayal Alramdy suffered catastrophic damage during the storms and the Khayal Alramady themselves are no longer a viable spice harvesting force.
Tri-V Corporation was also ceased its spicing operations during this orbis. The Corporation is reported to have restructured itself and it now holds major refreshment concessions on the planet Paquin.

USD unviles new defense system.

After almost a month of no activity regarding the Q-Bomb debate, the USD has now unviled its new defense weapon that was put into development shortly after the United Terran Federation had demonstrated the power of their new Q-Bomb Superweapon. The new weapon with the codename "Hyperfire" seems to be the result of said development. The weapon, a 60cm gauss cannon that is able to fire projectiles with almost 35.000 meters per second with a range ranging between 2500 km to almost 10.000 km has recently been tested on various sattelites and spaceships with devasting results.
The plan is to install similar cannons on orbital platforms to protect planets from surprise attacks. It is augured that the cannon will make it hard for anyone to approach planets unseen and its great range makes it hard for any attacker to launch weapons like the Q-Bomb, due to its limit range.

Q-Bomb Controversy: Did the UTF test its new weapon?
Did the United Terran Federation test its new weapon, the Q-Bomb? This is the question everyone is asking after images made by the Galileo Observation Probe where released yesterday. The image taken in the Gamma Quadrant, shows the destruction of a planet know as OM-1, that was located near UTF controlled territory.
The image shows the destruction of OM-1 and its moons by a large explosion, "something that only the Q-Bomb could achieve" as experts say. So far the event is still investigated and no official comment was made by any side.
This events overshadows the passing of the new defense bill by the congress that allows the Military of the USD to develop a defensive capability against the new superweapon. The bill, that gives gives the Military 1.2 Billion Credits additional funds had been debated hotly in the past weeks with the opposition voicing their concern about a out of control military as a result of overspending.

Al Raqis: 15 people die from terrosit missle attack at splintered Rock.
Splintered rock, Al Raqis,
yesterday, a civilian transport carrying nuns and orphans to their new frontier home in the Pollux system, was shot down by a Anti-Aircraft missile that was launched from a hidden Missile site. The Space bug 101 was experiencing engine problems and requested an emergency landing on Splintered rock.When they entered the atmosphere they were met with surface to air missiles from Khayal Alramady.
A terrorist group calling themselves "Maruders" confessed the attack with the word: ""We will smite the invaders from our skies. There will be more in the days to come. We are here. We will not be ignored. We will win. We are the Marauders. Expect us."
This marks a new twist in the conflict between the Fremen and the Imperium and is the first attack of this kind where innocent civilians where killed.
A official statement of the Al Raqian authorities is eagerly awaited by everyone.

Congress meeting postponed after turmoil.

In the recent days, one Congress meeting hunted the next, after the United Terran Federation unveiled its new Superweapon. Yesterday marked the first time in the History of the Directorate that a Congress meeting had to be postponed due to turmoil. The new Defense Bill, that the High Council presented to the Congress, had been heavily debated the last couple of days, while heated, it never reached yesterdays level of intensity, when Congressman Jim Nakamura from the United Power League called the everyone that is against this bill "spineless, headless, pinko-hippy bunch of cowardly traitors."
Members of several parties, among them the PPC (Party of Progressive citizens), Traders Union, The Progressive Federalists among others who had stated that the bill would give the military too much power, started shouting back at Nakamura. Others left the meeting altogether, making it impossible to go on with the meeting. One Congressman, Trent Easton from the Centerpoint Party, approached Nakamura while on the podium and started an argument with him, wildly gesturing, to retract and apologize for what he said.
The turmoil reached its height, when members of both parties ran to the podium, wildly arguing with each other. While it did not came to physical attacks, the security had to separate the group and escort them outside.
"I am a membe of this Congress for 30 years and I have never seen anything like this. We all reperent the people of this Nation and we should know better then to throw child like fits at each other." said Kreg Corilla from the Union for Advancement.
The next meeting will be held on Monday.
